Prof Toral Gathani speaks to ecancer about a panel that she was involved in at London Global Cancer Week 2025 which looked at improving diversity in the participation of clinical trials in the UK.

She explains that to ensure we have results in medical research that are generalisable to the whole population we need to make sure that we have the right participants in the trials.

Prof Gathani discusses some of the common barriers that prevent ethnic minorities from joining research groups and also some of the steps that can be taken to help clinical trials improve retention.
