POEM syndrome is a rare disease affecting the nervous system, with symptoms like polyneuropathy. It impacts about 0.3 in a hundred thousand people, and misdiagnosis can lead to chronic issues.

Diagnostic criteria are often inaccessible, especially in the Philippines. Treatment mainly involves autologous stem cell transplantation, but other medications can worsen neuropathy.

A multidisciplinary approach is essential for effective management and raising awareness is crucial.
