Dr Fidel Rubagumya speaks to ecancer at Choosing Wisely Tanzania 2023 about his talk on the participation of Africa to global randomised controlled clinical trials.

He outlines the complex ethical concerns surrounding the recruitment of patients from the African continent in clinical trials designed and supported by high-income countries and pharmaceutical companies. He explains there is a lack of representation of African researchers leading clinical trials.

Dr Rubagumya concludes by highlighting that often clinical trials that are lead by researchers from the African continent are not published in high impact journals.
