Dr Samir Hanash - Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, USA

Dr Hanash talks to ecancertv at the Worldwide Innovative Networking in personalized cancer medicine (WIN) meeting, initiated by the Institut Gustave Roussy (France) and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA) Paris, 6-8 July, 2011.

Dr Hanash discusses biomarkers and their intended uses for treatment decisions and drug development decisions. Specifically circulating proteins to identify lung cancer by a simple blood test, at early stage.

The immune system can be used to detect cancer development, in the same way as testing for HIV, thus allowing much earlier treatment and increasing the potential of a cure.
