Dr Cai Grau – The Danish Head and Neck Cancer Group
Dr Cai Grau talks to ecancer.tv about waiting times in Denmark for all services relating to head and neck cancer and their impact on disease outcomes. Due to lack of resources and priority for cancer patients in healthcare services, waiting times were increasing from diagnosis to treatment. Data analysis showed that the risk of dying increases by 16% per month of waiting and the risk or recurrence increases by 19% per month of waiting. The Danish Head and Neck Cancer Group became involved in the political process to get patients treated for cancer without delays, with much success, as described by Dr Grau.
