Dr Matthias Guckenberger - University of Wuerzburg, Germany
Dr Matthias Guckenberger explains how the dose and direction of radiation beams should be adapted as tumours shrink in response to radiotherapy. This is achieved using repeated imaging during treatment and allows clinicians to spare healthy tissues and safely administer higher doses to tumour cells. Unlike radiosurgery, this technique can be used effectively on large tumours and consequently can be used to treat a wider range of cancers.
