The FLIMS Alumni Club is a non-profit organisation established in 2001 to respond to the interests and needs of European junior clinical oncologists and to offering a range of benefits. These benefits include regular meetings and networking opportunities, reduced fees for key oncology conventions, opportunities to learn about running clinical trials from world leading oncologists and gaining hands on experience writing protocols. Dr Duveken Fontein talks to ecancer.tv about the benefits of the Flims Alumni Club and why she believes it is such a valuable resource for highly driven young oncology researchers.

The FLIMS is an oncology or cancer research programme for young investigators who want to become experts in oncology research. I did it myself this year and I think it’s amazing, it’s one of the best courses I took. It’s a week long, writing a protocol, meeting informally with the experts in the field and really doing hands on protocol writing. At the same time you get to know a bit about doing research and different types of clinical trials and, again, it’s a great networking platform.
