While advances in early breast cancer treatment have created a story of hope for many, shame, silence and isolation remain the hallmarks of metastatic breast cancer. With a median survival of 2–4 years after diagnosis, there is a pressing need to better address the emotional and treatment requirements of women with metastatic breast cancer.
