Silvia Zunino, Radiation Oncologist, MD, PhD, is the President of the Instituto de Radioterapia-Fundación Marie Curie and the Director of the Residency Program in Radiation Oncology accredited by CONEAU (National Commission on University Evaluation and Accreditation). She is also a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Cordoba. Silvia has long been working to have access to high-tech in Radiation Therapy for advancement and innovation in the field. Her main interest is to encourage the investigation and development of accurate hypofractionated radiotherapy to achieve both a better patient’s compliance and an easier combination with systemic treatments. Another equally important objective of the Marie-Curie Foundation is the development of Continuing Education Programs targeted mainly towards radiation oncologists, medical physicists and technologists. At present, the Institution run by Silvia is leading the first and only program in Argentina for Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation as well as the first program of hypofractionation to the breast and to other tumor sites. The Institution is also a pioneer in Argentina in SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy) programs and in radiosurgery with micromultileaf collimator.
