Prof Jean-Charles Soria - Institut Gustave Roussy, Paris, France

Prof Jean-Charles Soria talks to Prof Gordon McVie at NCRI 2011 discussing cellular pathways, the need for personalised medicine and new approaches to combination therapy.

Prof Soria stresses the need to molecularly distinguish lung cancer patients based on cellular pathways in order to treat them more effectively. This approach referred to as ‘personalised medicine’, looks at the patient’s molecular diagnosis to find the most appropriate drug.

Prof Soria feels that personalised medicine should create a context where the outcome of the patient is improved through identifying their molecular classifications and abnormalities, and then searching for a drug treatment best suited to that collective diagnosis.
