Prof Christopher Marshall - The Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK

Prof Christopher Marshall speaks with Prof Gordon McVie at the National Cancer research Institute cancer conference in Liverpool on his lifetime achievement award; work with RAS and current research on RHO.

Prof Marshall earned his award for elucidating how RAS proteins function, which led to numerous targeted drugs currently used in the clinic, many of which came from research outside his work on RAS. In his current research, Prof Marshall is researching RHO, a family of proteins similar to RAS that allow tumour cells to invade and metastasise. While RAS proteins are important in invasion and metastasis, RHO affects a different process of the cell and gives them the ability to change shape and move.
